The Collectif for a European Civic Service organized a 4 days event as part of the conference on the future of Europe, in Berlin. The focus of the event was the youth conference on four current topics: 1. Social, 2. Environment, 3. Europe, 4. Youth engagement.
For this purpose, young people from Italy and France came to share their views and ideas on the future of Europe with the German participants on site. The participants also include young people who themselves took part in a voluntary European year. At the same time, young artists from Berlin got involved so that the individual topics can be taken apart from an artistic perspective.
"The work 'No Future' presents a compelling exploration of youth's engagement with the future of Europe. As viewers, we are immediately captivated by the powerful message conveyed in this artwork. Moritz deliberately forgoes the use of brushes, instead etching all the information onto the canvas, resulting in a raw and expressive texture.
The central theme of the artwork revolves around reflecting on the future of Europe from the perspective of the youth. Moritz seeks to highlight voices that typically do not participate in such events. The canvas features bold statements such as 'We don't need 12 stars just 5 stars hotels”' and 'fuck Brussels, Ibiza, and Bali!' These intentionally provocative statements aim to bring attention to those individuals who may not be particularly interested in politics but nonetheless represent a significant force in our society.
'No Future' sparked polarization among the exhibition's visitors, drawing significant attention due to its more negative outlook on the future of Europe compared to most other works. The exhibition title plays on the concept of today's youth advocating for the future of Europe.
Overall, 'No Future' is a powerful and controversial piece that encourages viewers to engage with the challenges and perspectives of youth, recognizing the diversity of opinions and viewpoints within our society.
Moritz's work "no Future" was made by him for all those who would never attend such a conference. His work deals with the dreams of those who do not consciously step into the future. The deeper the viewer delves into Moritz's work, the clearer the statement is of those who are not interested. to quote moritz work "we dont need 12 stars ,just 5 stars hotels“
